Wema Bank is set to host its 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD) Grand Event on March 4. The event aligns with the global IWD 2026 theme, ‘Give To Gain’, and adopts the sub-theme ‘When Women Gain, We Grow’. This theme emphasizes supporting women and boosting gender inclusion through sustained efforts.
Moruf Oseni, Managing Director and CEO of Wema Bank, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to empowering women across all sectors. He highlighted that Wema Bank consistently champions gender equality through tailored initiatives and opportunities.
Since 2019, the bank’s women-focused platform, SARA by Wema, has showcased its dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5. Oseni noted that women’s empowerment generates transformative potential in both personal and professional spheres.
The 2026 IWD gathering will bring together women from diverse industries, alongside emerging female leaders navigating contemporary challenges. The event provides networking opportunities, knowledge sharing, and access to career-enhancing platforms.
Key highlights include the SARA Gives to Empower Her Award, offering grants to women who uplift others, and the He for She Award, recognizing male employees supporting women beyond financial contributions.
Additionally, the Wema Knight Gives initiative will drive staff-led outreach programs benefiting women nationwide. The bank will also launch the Wema Bank Girl Child Journal, compiling insights from 80 contributors to inspire the next generation. This event reinforces Wema Bank’s mission: when women succeed, communities thrive.
