The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has continued recovery operations at the site of the crashed ATR 42-500 aircraft, NAF 931, in Igbokoda, Ondo State, as efforts entered their 14th day on Sunday.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said continuous pumping had significantly reduced water levels at the site.
The recovery team is working to remove most of the remaining water, subject to prevailing conditions, while reinforcing the embankment with sandbags to prevent collapse and maintain stability.
Ejodame said the operation required sustained engineering and de-watering efforts under challenging conditions.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended recovery personnel and partner agencies for their dedication and professionalism. He also acknowledged the support provided by Hitech Construction Company.
Aneke reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to completing the recovery safely and methodically while supporting the ongoing aircraft crash investigation.
The Air Force also expressed condolences to the bereaved families, acknowledging the pain and grief caused by the incident.
