The International Cricket Council (ICC) has praised the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) for improving facilities ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Qualifier C in Abuja.
ICC Regional Manager for Africa, Justin Ligyalingi, gave the commendation on Monday after inspecting the facilities, noting that significant improvements had been made since an earlier assessment four months ago.
He expressed confidence that the facilities were ready to host a successful tournament but said there was still room for further development.
Ligyalingi also praised the progress of cricket across Africa, citing countries such as Nigeria, Namibia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda for their performances and investments in high-performance cricket.
The Abuja tournament is the final group stage of the qualification process, with six countries competing for two remaining places at next year’s Africa Finals.
Uganda, Lesotho, The Gambia, Zambia, Mozambique and Nigeria are participating in the competition, which begins on Tuesday. Two teams will eventually progress from the Africa Finals to the next stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup qualification pathway.
