Prospective international students seeking to study in the United Kingdom have been advised to carefully prepare their documents and information before applying for a Student visa.
UK Visas and Immigration outlined the application process in a video shared on its official X account, covering eligibility, required documents, payment, biometric information and what applicants should expect after submitting their applications.
Applicants should first confirm that they need a Student visa and secure an unconditional offer from a licensed education provider. The institution will then issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, known as a CAS.
Depending on their course and circumstances, applicants may also need an Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate, tuberculosis certificate or proof of English-language ability.
Applicants outside the UK can apply up to six months before their course begins, while those applying from within the country can apply up to three months before the start date. UKVI advised applicants to apply as early as possible.
Applicants must complete the online application, provide proof of funds where required, upload the necessary documents and carefully check their personal details before submission.
UKVI warned that incorrect information, particularly names and other personal details, could cause problems. Applicants who discover an error after submitting and paying may have to cancel the application, request a refund and submit a new application.
Applicants must also pay the visa application fee and, where applicable, the Immigration Health Surcharge before providing their biometric information.
After submission, applicants should wait for UKVI’s decision and only provide additional information if requested. Those applying from outside the UK must also wait until the start date stated on their visa before travelling.
