President Bola Tinubu has approved the construction of the Itawure – Aramoko – Ado Ekiti and Aramoko – Ijero – Ifaki Ekiti roads in the 2026 Federal Government budget. Yinka Oyebode, Special Adviser on Media to Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, announced this on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti. The approval letter was sent to the Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi, with the Governor copied.
The roads are expected to ease travel, improve connectivity, and boost economic activities across the state. The approval came after Governor Oyebanji and Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele met President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on November 9, 2025. They discussed the poor condition of federal roads in Ekiti.
Public concern had grown over the state of some federal roads, especially the Itawure – Aramoko – Ado Ekiti route. The Federal Government has already awarded contracts for three major roads, including Akure – Ikere – Ado Ekiti and Ifaki – Oye – Ikole – Omuo Ekiti. Contractors have started work. The Oyebanji administration also completed the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki Road and several inter-city and intra-city projects over the past three years.
Governor Oyebanji thanked President Tinubu for supporting infrastructure and economic growth in the state. He assured citizens that the government will continue working with the Federal Government, private sector, and development partners. These projects will improve transport, create more economic opportunities, and drive development in Ekiti.
