President Bola Tinubu has celebrated legendary juju musician Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, popularly known as King Sunny Ade, on his 80th birthday.
In a personally signed tribute, Tinubu described the music icon as a symbol of musical excellence and cultural ambassadorship whose career had brought joy to generations of Nigerians and audiences around the world.
The President said Sunny Ade transformed juju music into a globally recognised Nigerian cultural treasure through his talent, creativity, discipline and commitment to his heritage.
Tinubu also praised the musician’s distinctive sound and use of guitar, talking drums and traditional instruments, as well as his stage performances and innovative approach to music.
