Sony AI has developed a system capable of analysing AI-generated songs to determine which original tracks were used during training and how much influence each had on the final output.
According to reports by Nikkei Asia, the tool can either access cooperative training data from AI developers or independently analyse generated tracks using pattern recognition to estimate influence.
The development comes amid growing scrutiny of AI music tools trained on copyrighted works without clear consent or compensation. By quantifying influence, Sony’s system could support fairer revenue-sharing models, improved copyright enforcement and greater transparency in generative AI.
Industry observers say the innovation could reshape how intellectual property disputes involving AI-generated music are handled globally.
