Governor Ahmed Aliyu has announced a financial donation of 1,000 Saudi Riyals, roughly N450,000, to each of the 2,410 Sokoto State pilgrims performing the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The announcement was made on Thursday night in Mina by the State Amirul Hajj, Muhammad Mai Gari Dingyadi. He explained that the gesture reflects the governor’s continued commitment to supporting pilgrims as they complete their spiritual journey.
According to Dingyadi, the financial assistance is designed to ease the pilgrims’ expenses, especially as they prepare for their return journey to Nigeria.
He noted that the support will help reduce financial pressure during their final days in the Holy Land.
He further commended the pilgrims for their orderly conduct throughout the Hajj exercise, stressing that none of them violated Saudi regulations. He described them as responsible ambassadors of Sokoto State who upheld discipline and respect for the host country’s laws.
Dingyadi urged them to maintain discipline and continue representing the state positively until their return.
He also encouraged them to pray for peace, unity, and progress in Sokoto State and across Nigeria, emphasizing the spiritual importance of their pilgrimage.
He reaffirmed that the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu remains committed to improving the welfare of citizens, including continuous support for pilgrims and residents alike, as part of broader efforts to enhance wellbeing across the state.
