Rinsola Babajide, Super Falcons star has set her sights on silverware after completing a summer move to Italian giants AS Roma Femminile. The forward revealed that her hunger for trophies was the driving force behind her decision to join the Serie A outfit. As Roma prepare to face Sporting CP in the 2025/26 UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying round today.
The 27-year-old Nigerian international penned a two-year deal with the Giallorosse in July after leaving Spanish side UDG Tenerife. Now, she is ready to help her new team secure a place in the prestigious Champions League group stage. Starting with Thursday’s first-leg clash in Rome.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Babajide expressed her ambition: “I came to Roma to win silverware. Lifting my first trophy gave me the best feeling, and I want to experience that again. Roma’s women’s team already has a history of winning league and cup titles. And I want to be part of writing more success stories. Champions League football is also a big motivation for me.”
The dynamic forward, who previously played for Liverpool and Watford. Had enjoyed her most productive season at Tenerife, where she netted 10 goals. She believes Roma offers the perfect platform to build on that progress. “I want to improve my goal stats or at least maintain them, but more importantly, I aim to be a starter and give my best for the team,” she added.
Babajide has already proven her worth at international level. Scoring her first goal for Nigeria during the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Her contributions helped the Super Falcons clinch a record 10th continental crown in Morocco.
With her blend of pace, determination, and goal-scoring ability, Babajide is expected to play a key role in Roma’s Champions League campaign.
