Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, is expected to resign from his position to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State.
Sources close to the Presidency confirmed that Adelabu has already informed Bola Tinubu of his intention after a meeting at the Presidential Villa.
Although the resignation comes after the official deadline for political appointees, insiders say the minister has received the President’s backing.
Adelabu, who previously contested the governorship election in 2019 and 2023, is expected to join other aspirants ahead of the APC primaries scheduled for May 23, 2026.
His entry is likely to intensify competition within the party as preparations for the 2027 election gather momentum.
