The National Pension Commission has directed treasury-funded Ministries, Departments and Agencies to submit details of employees retiring in 2026 as preparations continue for the rollout of the Federal Government’s newly approved Exit Benefit Scheme.
The initiative is designed to provide additional financial support to eligible retirees, including a benefit equivalent to 100 per cent of their final annual emoluments for qualifying workers.
Stakeholders view the scheme as a significant step toward strengthening retirement welfare and addressing concerns over the adequacy of post-service benefits amid rising living costs.
The success of the programme will largely depend on the timely submission of accurate records by affected agencies before the stipulated deadline.
