The Osun State PDP caucus in the House of Representatives has warned Governor Seyi Makinde. They urged him to stay away from Osun State’s political affairs.
The caucus rejected last Tuesday’s governorship primaries that reportedly produced Adebayo Adedamola. Lawmakers described the primaries as illegal and incapable of producing a valid PDP candidate.
Signed by six caucus members, the statement condemned the primaries as chaotic and manipulated.
They alleged Makinde imported “thugs and political jobbers” from Ibadan to disrupt Osun politics.
According to the caucus, this act shows Makinde’s desperation for regional influence and reckless conduct.
The lawmakers emphasized that PDP rules require proper delegate elections before valid primaries. They warned that anyone claiming candidacy from the disputed primaries risks criminal impersonation.
Makinde was also criticized for exporting impunity and political recklessness to Osun State. The caucus affirmed loyalty to the 1999 Constitution and PDP guidelines. They urged INEC to ignore the purported primary results and uphold official party procedures.
This crisis stems from national PDP leadership disputes between factions loyal to Seyi Makinde and Nyesom Wike.The conflict has paralyzed party organs, preventing legitimate primaries across several states, including Osun.
