During the ongoing Holy Ghost Congress in Ogun State, Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God delivered a powerful sermon on ending compromising relationships. Speaking on the theme, “Jonah Must Go,” he warned worshippers against nurturing immoral thoughts and maintaining friendships that hinder spiritual growth.
Adeboye stressed the importance of setting boundaries with the opposite sex. He revealed that after relocating to the campground due to long working hours, he stopped having a female secretary. “I know myself. I know the possible dangers being alone with the opposite sex at night,” he explained.
He shared cautionary tales to illustrate his point. He advised a young minister from the North to dismiss his secretary to avoid temptation. Similarly, he recounted a pastor in America who ignored this guidance and faced personal and professional ruin.
According to Adeboye, achieving one’s divine destiny often requires drastic action. He stated, “Certain relationships must be addressed quickly before they destroy you. Jonah must go.” He encouraged believers to trust God rather than fear loss when severing unhealthy ties.
He concluded by reminding worshippers that letting go of harmful relationships can also help others fulfill their God-given destiny. “Throw Jonah into the ocean and leave the rest to God,” he said.
By cutting off relationships that block spiritual progress, believers can stay focused on their divine goals and grow closer to God.
