Private school proprietors in Oyo State, under the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), have called for stronger security deployment around schools and vulnerable rural communities following recent abductions in Ogbomoso axis. They made the appeal during a special prayer and intercession programme organised by proprietors across five local government areas in the Ogbomoso region.
Speaking in Ibadan, association leaders expressed deep concern over rising attacks on educational institutions, which they said have created fear among parents, teachers, and school owners. Recent incidents in Ahoro-Esinle and surrounding communities of Ogbomoso involved coordinated assaults on schools, leaving victims abducted and communities distressed.
Consequently, NAPPS urged the Federal and Oyo State Governments, alongside security agencies, to strengthen school security architecture across rural and high-risk areas. They also recommended deployment of surveillance technology, improved intelligence gathering, and faster response systems to prevent future attacks and secure timely rescue operations.
Furthermore, the association called for collective action among stakeholders, including parents, religious leaders, and school operators, to reinforce safety measures and advocacy. It stressed that attacks on one school represent a threat to all, urging unity and continuous prayers for protection and peace.
Meanwhile, the association prayed for the safe return of abducted victims and comfort for affected families across Oyo State. NAPPS reaffirmed commitment to advocacy and continuous engagement with government authorities to ensure schools remain safe learning environments and to restore public confidence in education across Nigeria moving forward with urgent preventive security measures nationwide as priority always in focus.
