Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his confidence ahead of the August 15 governorship election, boldly projecting a decisive victory over his opponents. In a statement shared on his X account, the governor asserted that candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Bola Oyebamiji and former governor Gboyega Oyetola, would be defeated well before the close of polls.
According to Adeleke, the opposition is already grappling with declining public support, making the upcoming election a mere formality. He referenced internal polling data to support his claim, noting that surveys conducted between late 2025 and March 2026 consistently placed APC popularity below 30 percent, while his approval ratings ranged between 68 and 72 percent.
Furthermore, Adeleke emphasized that the people of Osun remain firmly aligned with his administration, citing widespread grassroots backing as a key factor in his projected win. Meanwhile, political activities have intensified across the state, with both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and APC strengthening their campaign structures.
The PDP has established a robust campaign council to coordinate mobilisation efforts across federal constituencies, local governments, and wards. On the other hand, the APC has consolidated its position, presenting Oyebamiji as its consensus candidate, with promises focused on poverty reduction, healthcare reform, and infrastructure development.
Despite the growing competition, Adeleke remains resolute, insisting that his administration’s performance will ultimately secure a clear and early victory at the polls.
