Ovie Omo-Agege, former Deputy President of the Senate, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, marking a major shift in the state’s political landscape. He confirmed his resignation in a statement dated May 22, 2026, which was signed by his media adviser, Sunday Areh, and released to journalists in Warri.
According to the statement, he had earlier written to the APC Orogun Ward 2 Chairman in Ughelli North Local Government Area to formalise his exit from the party. Omo-Agege explained that his decision followed recent political developments within the APC in Delta State after wide consultations with his supporters and associates.
He added that remaining in the party would no longer enable him to effectively pursue the interests of Delta Central Senatorial District and the wider electorate. Furthermore, he stated that he would not stay in a political platform where he could not advance the development needs of his constituents.
Omo-Agege appreciated the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate between 2019 and 2023 and requested removal of his name from party records. Despite his exit, he maintained that his commitment to the progress of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria remains unchanged.
He said he will continue to pursue development goals outside the APC while focusing on effective representation of his people. However, he has not disclosed his new political platform, and efforts to reach his media aide for clarification were unsuccessful at filing of this report time.
