The Nigerian Union of Teachers in Ogun State has praised Governor Dapo Abiodun’s latest education reforms. The union applauded the approval of Grade Level 17 for graduate primary school teachers. It also welcomed the consolidated salary structure approved for the HeadTeacher-General.
In a statement released Friday, the NUT described the decision as unprecedented and groundbreaking. The statement was jointly signed by Chairman Sewakanu Oladipupo and Secretary Samson Oyelere. According to the union, the approval has elevated the professional status of over 14,000 teachers.
Furthermore, the policy has reignited passion, dedication, and renewed commitment among educators statewide. The union described the move as a landmark achievement and visionary leadership masterstroke. It highlighted Governor Abiodun’s unwavering commitment to advancing education in Ogun State.

Ultimately, improved learning outcomes and stronger academic performance will follow. Earlier, Head of Service Kehinde Onasanya confirmed the approval of the career advancement. He explained it addressed stagnation at the cadre’s peak and improved motivation.
Onasanya added that HeadTeacher-General roles now enjoy enhanced professional recognition. Moreover, SUBEB has been directed to implement the policy immediately. The reform aligns with the administration’s ISEYA pillar and education development agenda. Teachers were urged to sustain professionalism and efficient service delivery.
