Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde not to be discouraged by criticism, saying that leaders often get praised later by those who once opposed them.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new Ibadan Central Bus Terminal at Iwo Road on Wednesday, Obasanjo commended Makinde’s developmental strides, describing him as an Omoluabi and a “political engineer.”
The new terminal features modern facilities including waiting halls, eateries, elevators, and parking areas. Obasanjo said the terminals at Ojoo, Challenge, and Iwo Road will ease transportation in Ibadan, which he called the largest city in Nigeria by landmass.
He praised Makinde for prioritizing comfort and development for residents, urging citizens to maintain public infrastructure.
In his remarks, Governor Makinde said his administration had completed four major bus terminals across Ibadan to improve urban transport. He highlighted the Iwo Road–Adegbayi dual carriageway as part of ongoing efforts to modernize the city, adding that other towns like Ogbomoso and Saki would benefit from future phases.
