Olusegun Obasanjo, former President plans a major medical outreach in Lagos suburbs. The initiative will mark his 89th birthday anniversary. Organisers aim to reach at least 10,000 beneficiaries.
The Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation is coordinating the large-scale humanitarian programme. His Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, confirmed the development on Sunday. The outreach will hold in Ikorodu and Alimosho local government areas. Activities will run from February 27 to March 4, 2026.
Dr Olalekan Makinde, the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, outlined the mission’s objectives. He explained that the programme reflects Obasanjo’s lifelong dedication to service. Furthermore, he described the outreach as a legacy-driven healthcare intervention.
The exercise will begin at Ijede LCDA Council Hall in Ikorodu. It will also hold at Imota Mini Stadium before moving to Alimosho. Subsequently, medical teams will operate at Alade Stadium in Agbado/Oke-Odo.
Beneficiaries will receive comprehensive healthcare services free of charge. The programme will provide ear care and hearing aids for qualified patients. It will also offer eye screenings, prescription glasses, and surgery referrals. In addition, medical teams will conduct cardiovascular checks and blood pressure assessments.
Doctors will provide preventive counseling, consultations, and essential medications. According to organisers, the outreach prioritises underserved and low-income residents. Elderly citizens, children, and vulnerable families can participate.
However, services will follow a strict first-come, first-served policy. Residents are encouraged to arrive early for proper registration.
Through this initiative, the Foundation continues promoting accessible healthcare across Nigeria.
