The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has urged Corps Members to uphold NYSC core values throughout their service year and beyond. He made the call while addressing the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps Members during the Orientation Course in Rivers State. Nafiu encouraged participants to practise patriotism, integrity, efficiency, transparency, and commitment in all their activities.
He commended the Corps Members for responding positively to the call to serve their country. He stressed that their contributions should extend beyond the service year to support national development. According to Nafiu, instilling these values ensures that Nigerian youth become responsible citizens and active contributors to society.
Earlier, the NYSC Rivers State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, presented the camp situation report. He noted that the 2,586 Corps Members displayed high levels of discipline, patriotism, and commitment during the Orientation Course. The report highlighted the scheme’s success in fostering ethical behaviour and dedication among participants.
Nafiu emphasised that the NYSC remains committed to nurturing virtues and a strong sense of national duty. He explained that Corps Members are expected to lead by example and positively influence their communities. The DG also reminded them that integrity and transparency are vital for both personal growth and national progress.
By combining guidance, mentorship, and structured orientation, NYSC continues to prepare Nigerian youth for meaningful societal impact. The programme aims to produce graduates who contribute effectively to governance, community development, and national unity. Participants are encouraged to embrace these lessons throughout their professional and personal lives.
