The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has scheduled the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course. The program will begin nationwide on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at all 37 orientation camps. Camp registration for all Corps Members runs from January 21 to midnight of January 23, 2026.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place on Friday, January 23, 2026, across all camps. Meanwhile, the closing ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, February 10, 2026, to conclude activities. Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, NYSC Director-General, wished Corps Members safe travels to deployment states.
He specifically advised avoiding night journeys to reduce travel risks during the orientation period. The management also emphasized strict adherence to the orientation schedule for smooth program execution.
Established in 1973, the NYSC scheme promotes national unity and integration across Nigeria. The orientation camp serves as the foundational phase of the three-week NYSC program. During this period, Corps Members participate in paramilitary drills and skill acquisition training.
The Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program equips members with practical career skills. Participants also attend lectures on national issues to broaden their civic knowledge. Cultural and social activities help foster interaction across ethnic and religious lines.
The program ultimately strengthens interpersonal relationships and encourages collaboration among young Nigerians.
