Twelve student teams from across Nigeria gathered in Lagos for the grand finale of the Nigerian National AI Hackathon organised by DeepFunding and SingularityNET.
The competition showcased locally developed artificial intelligence solutions focused on healthcare, language inclusion and assistive technology.
The top prize went to Doctor Robot, an AI-powered healthcare assistant designed to provide medical guidance in multiple Nigerian languages.
Team Sophia finished second with a community healthcare support platform, while Team Eusate secured third place with a multilingual customer service solution supporting major Nigerian languages and Pidgin English.
Other notable projects included Path Pilot, an AI-powered navigation system for visually impaired users, and Team SOAT’s automated medication dispensing solution.
Organisers said the hackathon was designed to encourage African developers to build AI solutions tailored to local challenges rather than relying solely on foreign technologies.
