The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a warning to the public about a fraudulent message circulating online, falsely claiming that the NELFUND Student Loan Registration Portal is open.
The scam directs students and applicants to a third-party website which NELFUND has confirmed is unauthorised and fraudulent.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Tuesday, NELFUND urged students and the general public not to click on the link or share personal information, emphasizing that the official loan registration portal is only accessible through verified NELFUND channels.
The agency also reminded applicants to remain vigilant online and report any suspicious links or communications claiming to represent NELFUND. “Applicants are encouraged to always verify official announcements via NELFUND’s official website and social media channels,” the statement read.
This advisory is part of NELFUND’s ongoing effort to protect students and maintain the integrity of the student loan application process. Students are advised to exercise caution when applying for loans online and to only use official sources for all applications.
