The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ebonyi has intensified its fight against illegal drugs. Between October and December 2025, operatives arrested 157 suspects and seized 134.483kg of illicit substances.
NDLEA Ebonyi Commander, Mr. Jude Ahamefule, reported the figures to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abakaliki on Monday. He noted that 123 males and 34 females were arrested during the operation. Out of these, six suspects have already been convicted.
The seized drugs included cannabis sativa, heroin, methamphetamine, tramadol, diazepam, and other psychotropic substances. Cannabis sativa accounted for 106.978kg, while methamphetamine totaled 1.407kg in 303 pinches. Tramadol capsules numbered 2,619, diazepam tablets reached 700, and phenobarbitone syrup measured 480ml.
Ahamefule added that four clients were successfully rehabilitated and discharged. Six individuals are currently admitted for rehabilitation, bringing the total to 12 clients undergoing treatment. Additionally, 44 suspects were referred to the command’s counselling unit.
He emphasized the agency’s unwavering commitment to eliminating drug abuse and trafficking across Ebonyi State. Ahamefule urged all individuals involved in illegal drug activities to cease operations immediately, warning that strict enforcement will continue.
NDLEA, as a federal agency, is tasked with stopping the growing, processing, manufacturing, selling, exporting, and trafficking of hard drugs nationwide. Its efforts reflect Nigeria’s ongoing battle against drug-related crimes.
