The Nigerian Bar Association NBA has announced the theme and logo for its 2026 Annual General Conference. The conference will hold in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in August 2026.
NBA President Afam Osigwe (SAN) revealed that the theme is “Beyond Limits,” highlighting innovation and professional growth. He said it encourages lawyers to rise above conventional boundaries and embrace new approaches.
According to Osigwe, the theme aims to challenge members to respond effectively to evolving demands of justice, governance, and excellence. The choice of Port Harcourt as host city reflects NBA’s commitment to national inclusion and regional balance.
“The return of our flagship conference to the South-South region underscores deliberate engagement across all parts of Nigeria,” Osigwe said.
Abdul Mohammed (SAN), Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, confirmed that preparations for the event are underway. He assured members of a world-class conference with high-quality content, organisation, logistics, and delegate experience.
Shortly after unveiling the theme, NBA inaugurated a co-working space for young lawyers at its National Secretariat in Abuja. Osigwe explained that the facility addresses unemployment and structural challenges facing early-career lawyers.
The co-working space, funded by NBA Welfare Committee Chairman Chief James Onoja (SAN), provides a professional environment for collaboration, client meetings, and active legal practice. It was named after Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), a former Attorney-General of the Federation.
The naming honours Agabi’s lifelong dedication to mentorship, ethical advocacy, intellectual excellence, and support for younger lawyers. NBA urged branches nationwide to replicate such co-working spaces to empower young lawyers at the grassroots level.
Finally, the NBA announced that registration for the 2026 Annual General Conference is now open, with further updates on speakers and programme to follow.
