Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has expressed concern over the low turnout of residents in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking during the official flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) grassroots sensitisation and voter education campaign in Lafia, Governor Sule—represented by his Deputy, Emmanuel Akabe—said data from INEC showed that Nasarawa ranks among states with the lowest registration figures.
Call for Grassroots Mobilisation
The Governor urged APC leaders, members, and community influencers to intensify efforts at the grassroots by sensitising residents across all wards and polling units. He emphasized that only through massive voter registration would citizens secure the power to fully participate in the 2027 general elections.
“Nasarawa State is still below average in the ongoing CVR process. This is the time for us to encourage our people to register so they can exercise their franchise in 2027,” Sule stated.
APC Marks Two Years of Leadership in Nasarawa
The event also celebrated the second anniversary of APC Chairman Aliyu Bello and Secretary Yairus Dagusa. Governor Sule congratulated the duo for stabilising the party and wished them continued success.
APC Chairman Bello, in his remarks, disclosed that the party had unanimously agreed to support any governorship candidate chosen by Governor Sule for the 2027 governorship election, regardless of senatorial zone.
Speaker, Lawmakers Push for Higher Voter Turnout
Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, commended the APC for launching voter education at a crucial time. He noted that while the state’s population has grown, the number of registered voters remains low.
“Our people must register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). As lawmakers, we will continue to pass laws that directly impact citizens across the 13 LGAs,” Jatau said.
INEC CVR Timeline
According to INEC, the in-person CVR exercise ran from August 25 to August 30, 2025, following an online pre-registration phase that began on August 18.

The sensitisation and anniversary event drew APC leaders from all 13 LGAs, including commissioners, lawmakers, political appointees, and council chairmen.
