Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has signed a 45-year sub-concession agreement with Nigerdock to develop, operate and maintain an exclusive container terminal at Snake Island Port.
According to a statement from Nigerdock’s Chief Marketing Officer, Kevin Johnson-Azuara, the new 30-hectare terminal in Lagos is expected to be completed by 2028. It will feature a 910-metre quay, six ship-to-shore cranes, two ship berths, three barge berths and a draft depth of up to 18 metres.
Nigerdock’s Chief Executive Officer, Maher Jarmakani, said the project would bring significant foreign direct investment into Nigeria and strengthen the country’s maritime and logistics sector.
MSC President Diego Aponte added that the terminal would improve efficiency, create jobs and position Snake Island Port as a major global shipping hub.
Snake Island Port is an 85-hectare facility operated by Nigerdock and forms part of its integrated port and free zone designed to support trade between Nigeria and global markets.
