Nine Israelis were killed and 27 others injured after an Iranian missile struck a residential building in Beit Shemesh, west of Jerusalem, on Sunday, local media reported.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, citing Israel’s ambulance service Magen David Adom (MDA), four of the injured are in critical condition. Emergency responders said search and rescue operations are ongoing, with several people still unaccounted for.
Beit Shemesh Mayor Shmuel Greenberg told The Times of Israel that about 20 residents had not yet been reached, though he cautioned that this does not necessarily indicate casualties.
The strike followed joint U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran on Saturday, which reportedly killed several senior Iranian figures, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Tehran responded with a wave of drone and missile attacks targeting Israel.
The latest escalation mirrors a similar confrontation last June, when U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran triggered a 12-day conflict before a ceasefire was declared.
