Liverpool manager Arne Slot delivered a blunt assessment after his side’s 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, describing it as the “same old story” of their season.
Andre’s stoppage-time deflected strike sealed the win for Wolves after Rodrigo Gomes’ opener and Mohamed Salah’s equaliser. Despite dominating possession and winning 11 corners, Liverpool were undone by inefficiency in open play and another late setback.
Slot admitted his team continues to struggle converting chances from open play, relying heavily on set-pieces in recent matches. “We’ve had far more ball possession… created more chances, but from open play we struggle to score,” he said.
He noted improvement in the second half but conceded that decisive moments cost his side, adding that deflected goals have hurt them repeatedly this season.
With eight Premier League games remaining, Slot said expectations have shifted but insisted his team must improve to avoid further dropped points.
Wolves, bottom of the table with 13 points from 29 matches before kick-off, secured just their third league win of the season with the victory.
