The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of six nursing students in a road accident along the Ilorin–Ogbomoso Road.
In a statement signed by Registrar Olayinka Balogun, the university described the incident as a monumental loss to its academic community. The students, all final-year participants in the Open and Distance Learning Nursing programme, were travelling from Suleja, Niger State, to sit for their final examinations when the crash occurred at Otte in Kwara State.
The deceased were identified as Shehu Nana Firdawsi Hamza, Idris Jamila, Abdulraheem Maimunah Hamza, Blessing Kevwe, Owoicho Elizabeth, and Aroke Ozavize Victoria.
The institution extended condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, urging the public to offer prayers and support during the period of mourning.
The tragedy marks the second fatal accident involving final-year students in Kwara State within a month. Earlier in February, Kwara State University confirmed the death of a 400-level student, Idris Agboluaje, in a separate auto crash while travelling to campus for examinations.
