The Lagos State Government has launched a free, statewide HIV testing campaign. The exercise will run across all Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas from 18 November to 1 December 2025. It forms part of events marking the 2025 World AIDS Day.
LSACA said the initiative will expand access to HIV testing and promote early diagnosis. It will also improve linkage to treatment and care for residents.
Closing Testing Gaps Across Lagos
In a statement on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, LSACA said the campaign aims to close testing gaps and boost public awareness on HIV prevention, treatment, and stigma reduction.
The agency has deployed trained counsellor-testers, testing kits, condoms, and information materials to support the exercise in all communities.
Early Testing is Key, Says LSACA CEO
LSACA’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Folakemi Animashaun, stressed the importance of knowing one’s status.
“As we approach 2025 World AIDS Day, our goal is to give every resident a safe and confidential way to know their HIV status,” she said. “Testing is the gateway to prevention and treatment.”
She added that LSACA is working with development partners and community organisations to reach underserved areas. Residents are encouraged to visit designated testing points in their LGAs and LCDAs.
Lagos Strengthens HIV Response
The Lagos State Government continues to expand HIV testing and counselling centres. It is also increasing public awareness campaigns to reduce new infections.
LSACA urged residents to participate in the free screening, noting that knowing one’s status is a vital step toward an HIV-free generation.
