The Kwara State Police Command has activated extensive security measures across the state to ensure public safety during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi said the deployment, led by Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo, is part of proactive policing strategies to protect lives and property and boost residents’ confidence during the yuletide period.
The measures include visibility policing, intelligence-led patrols, and targeted operations at places of worship, markets, motor parks, highways, recreational centres, and other public spaces. Tactical and specialised units have been placed on heightened alert, with ongoing surveillance and operations in identified blackspots. Officers have been directed to act professionally and courteously while performing their duties.
The command urged residents to remain vigilant, celebrate responsibly, and report suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via the command’s control room numbers: 07032069501, 08125275046.
Commissioner Ojo extended yuletide greetings, wishing residents a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year, while calling for unity, peace, and progress in Kwara State.
