Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Danjuma Shekwolo, has highlighted healthcare, education, roads, sanitation and security initiatives launched during his first 100 days in office.
Shekwolo said the council had begun remodelling primary healthcare centres, supplied essential drugs and provided assistance to vulnerable residents.
In education, the administration assessed all 115 public primary schools to identify areas requiring urgent intervention. It also approved the renovation of dilapidated classrooms, distributed learning materials and inaugurated a scholarship committee to screen indigent students for scholarships and bursaries.
The chairman said the council had also awarded scholarships to students who participated in a science competition and commenced grading of rural roads to improve transportation and the movement of agricultural produce.
On sanitation, the administration launched Operation Keep Kuje Clean, which has led to the removal of refuse dumps in several locations and the provision of 10 large waste bins.
Shekwolo added that street lights had been restored in parts of Kuje, while borehole repairs and new drilling were also underway. The council has also strengthened collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers and vigilante groups to improve security across the area.
