Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has pledged that his administration will no longer allow delays in the payment of lawful benefits to public servants.
The assurance was given during the disbursement of severance gratuities, accommodation, and leave allowances to 1,371 former councillors who served between 2021 and 2024. The exercise, held at the Government House in Kano, marked the final tranche of payments, with ₦8.26bn released to beneficiaries.
Yusuf said the move was part of reforms to prevent future backlogs of unpaid entitlements and restore trust in government, stressing that timely payment boosts morale and confidence in public institutions.
Several beneficiaries reportedly received alerts of ₦5m to ₦6m at the event.
