The Jigawa State Police Command has intensified its fight against drug-related crimes. On December 17, officers arrested 17 suspects across multiple local government areas. They recovered 4,658 wraps of various illicit drugs during targeted raids.
Seven suspects were additionally apprehended in connection with armed robbery and theft. Police also retrieved five stolen motorcycles and other items during these operations. SP Shi’isu Adam, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests in Dutse.
“The suspects were caught during intelligence-led operations across Dutse, Guri, Gumel, Sara, Shuwarin, Sundimina, Kazaure, Malam-Madori, Ringim, Birnin Kudu, Kafin Hausa, and Taura LGAs,” SP Adam said. The major suspect, Mutari Shu’aibu, a 20-year-old from Dutse, was found with significant quantities of hard drugs meant for distribution.
All recovered items have been documented and will be used as evidence in court. Following discreet investigations, the suspects have been arraigned to face legal prosecution. The operations reflect the command’s commitment to youth protection and public safety.
CP Dahiru Muhammad praised the officers’ professionalism, stressing that the fight against drug trafficking will continue relentlessly. Police confirmed that intelligence-guided raids ensure precise targeting of drug dealers.
The command urged residents to provide timely information about suspicious activities. “Fighting drugs requires collective responsibility. Citizens must remain vigilant and cooperative,” the PPRO appealed.
Jigawa police reaffirm their dedication to maintaining a secure, drug-free state, safeguarding youth, and enforcing law and order.
