Over 7 million people in 35 states were impacted by these floods, which resulted in substantial damage and evacuation. The destruction of houses, farms, and infrastructure brought attention to the difficulties that the usual response techniques have when dealing with large disasters. Traditional disaster response techniques are sometimes limited by things like restricted access to dangerous or inaccessible settings, difficulties allocating resources, and insufficient accurate information to make educated decisions. The floods in Nigeria serve as an example of the inadequacies in response efforts. Notwithstanding these obstacles, integrating cutting-edge technology, especially drones and artificial intelligence (AI), has emerged as a ray of hope for transforming disaster response operations.
There was once a strong earthquake in Turkey. Amid the chaos, the US Department of Defence and Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute collaborated on the xView2 project, which resulted in an incredible achievement. Drones equipped with advanced artificial intelligence algorithms moved to the air, quickly detecting damage to buildings and infrastructure, evaluating the extent of the damage, and assisting ground-based rescue operations. This demonstration reveals how amazing technology’s power is, as it not only helps with disaster response planning but also shows how drones and artificial intelligence can completely transform emergency response during a crisis.

The combination of AI algorithms with drones demonstrates how these new technologies may be applied globally in the field of disaster response, noting their capacity to break down social and geographic boundaries.
