Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has offered his condolences to former Deputy Governor Mrs. Titi Laoye-Ponle following the death of her husband, renowned industrialist Chief Tunde Ponle. Governor Adeleke described the loss as “deeply painful and irreparable.”
In a statement titled “Governor Adeleke Mourns Tunde Ponle, Calls It ‘Exit Of A Giant’,” signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the Governor said Chief Ponle’s demise was a major blow to Osun State and beyond.
Legacy of Philanthropy and Industry
Governor Adeleke highlighted the late Chief Ponle’s enduring contributions to economic growth and social development. Chief Ponle was the CEO of MicCom Cables and Wires and the founder of the MicCom Golf Hotels and Resort in Ada.
Adeleke specifically praised Ponle’s significant philanthropic footprints across the state, noting his major donations to the Osun State University (UNIOSUN), including:
- A multi-million Naira building donated to the institution.
- The MicCom Cancer Centre, which continues to serve the university and the community.
- The donation of his sprawling country home to the university for use by its College of Health Sciences.
The Governor commended the industrialist’s life, which he said was “marked by service and impact,” adding that he was “visibly shaken” by the passing of the 94-year-old Prince.
Governor Adeleke offered his heartfelt condolences to the family, associates, and admirers of the deceased, praying for the repose of his soul.
