The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has expressed deep concern over the growing cases of motorists driving against traffic along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, describing the trend as a serious threat to public safety.
According to the agency, the dangerous practice has continued to expose road users to avoidable crashes, injuries, and fatalities. Consequently, the FRSC urged motorists to obey traffic regulations and refrain from taking shortcuts that endanger lives and property.
The Corps noted that driving one-way not only violates traffic laws but also disrupts the smooth flow of vehicles on one of Nigeria’s busiest highways. Furthermore, it warned that offenders would face strict enforcement measures, including arrests and prosecution, as authorities intensify surveillance along the route.
The FRSC also appealed to commercial drivers, private motorists, and transport operators to prioritise safety over convenience. It stressed that patience and compliance with road signs remain essential for reducing accidents and ensuring safer highways.
