The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed reports that the Nigeria Education Management Information System (NEMIS) was hacked, insisting the platform remains secure and fully operational.
According to the ministry, a warning message seen by some users was caused by an SSL certificate configuration issue rather than a cyberattack. Officials stressed that there was no unauthorised access, data breach, loss of information or compromise of sensitive records.
The ministry said its technical team quickly resolved the issue and restored normal operations. It also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting education data through regular security assessments and system monitoring.
