The Edo State Police Command has vowed to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure justice for the killing of eight Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area.
The operatives, who were attached to BUA Cement Factory, were ambushed and killed by suspected kidnappers. During the attack, a Chinese expatriate was abducted, while four others were rescued. Four additional victims sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
NSCDC Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Audi, described the fallen operatives as patriots whose sacrifices “will never be forgotten,” adding that the Corps will cover medical bills for the injured and provide welfare for bereaved families.
Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, condemned the attack, calling it a “dastardly act that will not go unpunished.” He assured that security had been reinforced around the BUA Cement Factory and pledged that efforts were ongoing to rescue the abducted Chinese national.
The Edo Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while ensuring that those behind the Edo NSCDC killings are identified and brought to justice.
