The Edo State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped woman following a joint rescue operation involving police operatives, local hunters, and members of the Edo State Security Corps.
According to police spokesperson Eno Ikoedem, the victim, Mrs Vivian George, was abducted alongside her son while travelling to their farm in Igbanke community.
Her son reportedly escaped and alerted security operatives, who immediately launched a bush-combing operation into the forest.
During the rescue mission, the operatives engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun duel. The suspects later fled with gunshot injuries after being overwhelmed by security forces.
Police confirmed that the victim was rescued unharmed and reunited with her family.
The Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, praised the swift response of the security teams and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and violent crimes across Edo State.
