The Directors Guild of Nigeria and the MultiChoice Talent Factory are set to expand professional skills development programmes for filmmakers and other creative practitioners across Nigeria.
DGN National President, Uche Agbo, said the partnership was aimed at closing skills gaps, improving professionalism and creating networking opportunities within the creative industry.
The MTF Regional Workshop Series will take place in cities including Abeokuta, Ibadan, Owerri, Abuja, Kaduna, Asaba and Port Harcourt, allowing practitioners outside Lagos to access professional training.
The programme targets emerging and practising directors, writers, producers, cinematographers and other creative professionals. Agbo said the partnership was the first of its kind between the DGN and MultiChoice Talent Factory, with plans to make it an annual programme.
He said expanding skills training across the country would promote creative equity and strengthen the participation of Nigerian filmmakers in the wider African and international creative economy.
Agbo also called for stronger government support for skills development, saying a stronger creative sector could generate employment and provide alternative opportunities for young Nigerians.
