Former Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga has been suspended by Norwegian club Molde FK amid serious allegations. The club confirmed the suspension through an official statement released on Friday. According to Molde FK, Norwegian police are investigating an alleged sexual assault involving the player. The incident was reportedly first filed with authorities in late April 2025.
Subsequently, Daga was formally charged under Section 297 of the Norwegian Penal Code. The charge relates to committing a sexual act without consent. Meanwhile, legal proceedings are scheduled for March 2026. The case will be heard at the Nordmøre and Romsdal District Court. Molde FK stated that both parties have cooperated fully with investigators. In addition, the club emphasized its commitment to following due legal processes.
Following notification of the indictment, Molde immediately enforced disciplinary measures. As a result, Daga has been barred from all training sessions and matches. This suspension remains in effect until further notice. The club added that it will continue monitoring developments closely.
Before the ban, Daga last played on November 24. He featured in Molde’s 2-1 away victory against Strømsgodset. During the current season, he played 15 matches across all competitions. He also scored two goals in the Norwegian Eliteserien.
Daga joined Molde FK from Nigerian side FC ONE Rocket in January. He signed a three-year contract after completing the transfer. Earlier in October, he represented Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Notably, it was his second appearance at the global youth tournament. However, the Flying Eagles suffered a 4-0 defeat to Argentina in the round of 16.
Meanwhile, a source at his former Nigerian club confirmed awareness of the investigation. The source acknowledged that the situation remains ongoing. For now, Daniel Daga remains sidelined pending the court’s verdict.
