The bail hearing of Nigerian activist Justice Chidiebere, popularly known as Justice Crack, was stalled at the Federal High Court in Abuja following disagreement among members of his legal team over who should lead the defence.
The dispute led to the withdrawal of an earlier bail application, forcing the court to adjourn the case until May 18 for the hearing of a fresh application.
Senior lawyer Femi Balogun accused fellow counsel Marshall Abubakar of frustrating the process after insisting on leading the defence despite the presence of senior lawyers in court.
Justice Crack was earlier remanded over a viral social media video allegedly criticising the feeding arrangements of Nigerian Army personnel. He is facing cybercrime-related charges under the Cybercrimes Act.
The case has generated heated reactions online, with supporters describing the prosecution as an attempt to silence criticism, while authorities maintain the charges are lawful and necessary under existing regulations.
