Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has denied claims that he bit singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, during their celebrity boxing rematch in Lagos.
Okocha made the clarification while speaking at a comedy event and during an appearance on TVC Entertainment, dismissing Portable’s allegation that he bit him on the back and locked his neck during the contest.
According to the actor, he was wearing a mouth guard throughout the bout, making it impossible for him to bite his opponent.
“Portable has been going around telling people I bit him on the back. I was wearing a mouth guard; how is that even possible? He was just lying,” Okocha said.
The boxing contest, tagged “Unfinished Business,” took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The fight became chaotic after the two entertainers became involved in a wrestling-like exchange that forced officials and security personnel to intervene.
Portable eventually left the ring before the fight could be properly concluded. He was later brought back and disqualified, handing Okocha the victory.
The singer subsequently released a diss track criticising the officiating and accusing Okocha of attempting to choke and bite him during the confrontation.
The latest bout was Portable’s second defeat in celebrity boxing. He had previously lost to Carter Efe by unanimous decision on May 1 at the same venue.
Despite the controversy surrounding the rematch, Okocha has continued to reject the biting allegation and maintains that his victory should stand.
