Billionaire industrialist and BUA Group Chairman, Abdulsamad Rabiu, has confirmed he will honour his $500,000 pledge to the Super Eagles. The pledge comes despite Nigeria’s failure to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title. Rabiu shared the announcement on his official Instagram page, praising the team’s resilience and determination throughout the tournament.
In his message, he applauded the players for their courage and fighting spirit on the pitch. He noted that while the desired outcome was not achieved, the team had made Nigerians proud. “You fought with your hearts, gave your all, and showed true determination,” Rabiu wrote.
Rabiu emphasised that effort does not always guarantee victory, but passion, unity, and dedication remain invaluable. He highlighted that the Super Eagles’ commitment and spirit were worthy of celebration regardless of the results. “Sometimes even our best efforts don’t bring the desired outcome, but the spirit and unity you displayed truly matter,” he added.
As a token of recognition, the BUA Chairman confirmed the $500,000 reward would still be given to the players. He described the payment as appreciation for their hard work, dedication, and the joy they brought to Nigerians. Rabiu also encouraged the team to remain confident and learn from the experience.
Earlier, Rabiu had pledged the reward to motivate the Super Eagles before the tournament. Nigeria’s team reached the semi-finals but lost 4–2 on penalties to Morocco after a 0–0 draw. Rabiu expressed belief that the lessons gained will inspire greater success in future competitions.
