The Bauchi State Police Command has deployed massive security personnel and enhanced weaponry to troubled communities in Alkaleri Local Government Area following renewed security concerns.
Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, disclosed this during a press briefing in Bauchi, noting that the deployment targets Gwana, Digare and Kafin Duguri communities.
According to him, the operation involves joint efforts by the police, military, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies, with support from the Bauchi State Government.
Habib said the affected border communities have long experienced security challenges due to infiltration by criminal elements from neighbouring states. He, however, reassured residents of Mansur town, who reportedly fled over fears of attacks, that the town remains safe.
“Massive deployments of security personnel and enhanced weaponry have been put in place to prevent any breakdown of law and order. Operatives are working tirelessly to ensure peace and stability,” he said.
The Command assured residents that there would be no safe haven for bandits and emphasised sustained operations. The Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori Aliyu, also urged residents to support security agencies with timely intelligence, assuring that information provided would be treated confidentially.
