Baobab Microfinance Bank has completed the first phase of its Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Project in Ilorin, Kwara State, distributing 500 reusable sanitary pads to schoolgirls.
The initiative, carried out in partnership with Sisters of Jannah and Sana Pads, aims to tackle period poverty, improve school attendance and promote menstrual hygiene among adolescent girls. The bank described menstrual health as a basic right and said the project forms part of its broader corporate social responsibility efforts to support underserved communities. Baobab added that the programme would be expanded to more states as part of its commitment to ensuring no girl misses school because of inadequate access to menstrual products.
