Nigeria’s largest airline, Air Peace, has denied reports linking its executives to a tax suit. The carrier expressed shock over allegations involving Chairman Allen Onyema and Vice Chairman Alice Onyema. Air Peace said neither executives nor the company received court summons or official notification.
The airline questioned claims suggesting legal proceedings had continued since February without communication. Media reports had alleged the airline chairman faced a N94 million tax dispute with Lagos State. The reports emerged weeks after Allen Onyema criticised federal tax reforms publicly. Air Peace highlighted its long-standing commitment to transparency and regulatory compliance.
The airline confirmed that all corporate and personal tax obligations are fully met and current. It stated readiness to engage Lagos State Government to clarify any discrepancies in taxes. Air Peace emphasised such discussions would ensure due process, transparency, and accountability.
“We remain surprised by claims of ongoing legal proceedings without formal service,” the airline stated. The company noted that the Onyemas have contributed significantly to Nigeria’s aviation industry. Air Peace praised its leaders’ resilience and patriotism despite challenging economic conditions. The airline reassured passengers that operations would continue safely and reliably.
It stressed that allegations would not distract the company from serving customers effectively. Air Peace concluded that constructive dialogue with authorities remains possible if any issues arise. The airline reaffirmed its dedication to regulatory compliance and aviation sector growth. It urged stakeholders to consider verified information before drawing conclusions about the matter.
