Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has alleged that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state are plotting to disrupt the August 15 governorship election, insisting the opposition is acting out of fear of defeat.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke stated that the opposition has resorted to anti-democratic tactics after realizing that voters have largely rejected them.
He further referenced alleged opinion polls conducted between late 2025 and March 2026, which reportedly placed APC support below 30 percent, while his approval rating ranged between 68 and 72 percent across the state.
Adeleke also linked recent political tension to comments attributed to Akin Ogunbiyi regarding President Bola Tinubu’s stance on the Osun election, noting that the development unsettled a faction within the APC. He added that previous attempts by the opposition to manipulate political platforms, including the Accord Party, had failed, and warned that further efforts to undermine the electoral process would also collapse.
In response, APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi dismissed the allegations, arguing that Adeleke’s camp is already weakened by defections of key figures and lacks the political strength to win convincingly. He maintained that the ruling party remains unpopular in Osun and urged the public to disregard what he described as political rhetoric ahead of the election.
Both parties continue to trade accusations as the election draws closer, with heightened political tension expected to shape campaigns, voter engagement, and security preparations across Osun State in the coming weeks before the polls openly.
